The Joniir are an indigenous race that follows to different evolutionary tracks. The first is the human track and the other the dragon track. An unknown time ago, the Joniir were one people. They developed two different evolution philosophies. In their origin tales, they believe they evolved from the same line as dragons did, they were a genetic spin off who were smaller and developed bipedal forms. They believe they were developing into a supreme form, here is where the philosophies changed. One group believed they would be more scale than (closer to the dragon form) while the other believed more smooth (closer to the human form). There was even a time when they would deliver newborn children to the other side’s villages to be raised there if they didn’t meet the philosophic appearance.
Over the thousands of years there were generations that underwent crusades against the other side. Killing off or banishing any that did not meet the philosophical requirements. This left a large group of Joniir out on their own. Many travelled over the mountains to the wild wastes where they live the remainder of their lives in small communities or alone. It is from these “outcasts” that dragon-bloods are believed to have come from.
Relations: The joniir are isolationist and several communities are purist. They do not like it when other races encroach or even attempt to travel into their areas. These incidents are generally met with force and violence by the Joniir. Joniir also rarely travel beyond their own borders. Races within their borders such as fey-kind, dragon-kind, or giant-kind the Joniir see as inferior, but generally leave them in peace and allow them to travel and trade.
Alignment:The basic social alignment of the Joniir is Lawful-Neutral. They have strict rules in their society, and they are enforced. Individuals, however, can be of any alignment and tend to follow the alignment of the dragon type they evolved from.
Joniir Lands: Occupying the westernmost side of the Guthen continent, the lands are protected by the high nearly impassible mountains to the east and the tall beachless sea cliffs to the west. The are is very temperate with mild winters and summers. The Joniir are divided into two empires, the north (scale ) and south (smooth).
Religion: The Joniir have their own gods but also dedicate time to the dragon gods as well. They will not allow any other shrine or temple to be built in the open in their lands.
Names: : Joniir names are more condensed versions of dragon names. In the north the names are harsher and harder to pronounce in the common tongue, in the south they are slightly less harsh. Nearly each name will have a masculine and feminine version.
Adventures: : Adventuring Joniir are generally found inside their borders, however an outcast may travel outside and into the eastern lands. The motivation behind their travels may not always be apparent.
