The Ginanum (Giant_kind) / GIN-NUM/

On first appearance a Ginanum would appear as if a dwarf drank an enlarge potion and grew to nine feet in height. Ginanum are large and stocky, reaching between six and nine feet in height and weighing between 300 up to 900 pounds. Ginanum are generally good natured and like to drink, a lot. Several can be found in kingdoms that tolerate non-human and demi-human races, but for the most part they live in isolated communities deep in forest or in the foothills and bases of mountains ranges. Hair, skin, and eye color comes in all natural varieties.

Ginanum are said to be the magical offspring of dwarves and giants, however some Ginanum communities pre-date elves, some dragon texts suggest that Ginanum even pre-date the giant races. According to Ginanum sages, a group of nomads stumbled on this land and liked the way it looked, so they settled down and made it their home.

Ginanum have long life spans living around 350 years but produce few children, generally producing only one child per family. Their communities remain small, generally made up of 12-14 families. These communities are generally self-sufficient made up of farmers and craftsmen. Ginanum enjoy fishing, farming, crafting, cooking, eating and drinking.

Ginanum are not very adept with arcane magic and are generally to large and clumsy to sneak about. For these and other reasons Ginanum wizards and thieves are extremely rare. Ginanum typically will be fighters, rangers, or clerics. Rarely a bard or sorcerer. Ginanum shy away from paladins and monks, not liking all the rules and conditions.

Relations with other races

Humans, dwarves and elves

Ginanum get along with these races quite well. They will made trips into cities to “See what the little guys have come up with now”. They are interested on all manner of crafting technics and are eager to taste the next flavor of brew. Humans of first seeing a Ginanum tend to give them a wide berth after meeting one however their fear is typically conquered by the Ginanum’s jolly and fun nature.

Ginanum typically will not remain in these cities as the buildings are not made for them, they find the door-ways, ceilings and furnishing to small for thier taste and comfort.

Halflings

Ginanum find halflings fascinating. Though they will not travel to a halfling village unless it is completely necessary, this is mostly because they are afraid of breaking something and the size of the buildings and furnishings are freakishly small. They will however welcome halfings into their communities for a visit.

Half-Orc

Ginanum have a distaste for orcs. Many of their communities were devastated in the orc wars and even when they attempted to remain neutral, the orcs still raided their farms and attacked their cities. While they are not openly rude to a half-orc, their jolliness disappears in their presents and many Ginanum will find an excuse to leave.
