Halflings are the youngest race to have reached this world. The first group were refugees (Stovel) who paid for transport to another system, the group was stiffed by the crew and all their items stolen. The ship marooned them in the western jungles of Korramoth. The group flourished and spread out to other lands building new communities and establishing trade routes with them. More halflings began arriving from other locations and melded into this new society.
Today halflings can be found in nearly every human city and there is at least one village or city in each of the kingdoms and empires. Having a rough beginning when they arrived, halflings here tend to be slightly stronger and more muscular and slightly more cautious and fearful. They were forced to rebuild and recreate all the technology they once took for granted. These slight changes alter their resistance to fear, increases their strength and intelligence and reduces their dexterity. These alterations only apply to native halflings and not off-world halflings.
When halflings started arriving in human and other cities, a small group of them immediately began setting up thief’s guilds and staging robberies and developing scams to siphon coin out of the hands of ignorant humans and other races. For these reasons most halflings are mistrusted, if a crime happened and a halfling was within a mile of the location, the halfling will be the first suspect. The only exception to this is the tallfellows. If there are 3 halflings a stout, tallfellow and a hairfoot, the guard will send the tallfellow away, question the stout and arrest the hairfoot.
Elves and dwarves will not allow halflings of any type to take up residence inside their city walls. Visit yes, or establish residence outside the city, but never inside the city. Human cities tend to keep a watch on new halflings, but if something comes up missing, the halfling neighbor is the first one suspected.
Only a few outcast halflings will take up residence near half-orcs. New residence are threatened with death if they break community laws.

Hairfoots were the first to arrive in human cities. However, it just so happened to be a crime syndicate that did. Nearly as soon as they landed, they began setting up guilds in the larger cities, and the robbing began. Within months the halflings were being hunted many were being rounded up by law enforcement while others taken captive by other crime syndicates to be ransomed back to the halflings guilds. By the end of the year, most of the hairfoots melded away into smaller villages and remote cities trying to avoid being arrested, killed, or enslaved. Today, hairfoots are the least trusted living creature on the planet. Though they are no longer hunted, they end up getting blamed for nearly every crime committed in their general area.
The stout halflings are nearly as adept at mining and smithing as dwarves are. Slightly taller and a lot stockier than the hairfoots are, stouts live both above and below ground and enjoy crafting. Stouts can be found in most human cities as an alternative to a dwarven smith. Several work in crafting professions and in guild halls and few others work with the city guard as spies and scouts.
Arriving last on the world, tallfellows arrived as merchants, found a hole in the economy and remained to monoplize on it. Tallfellows mostly run caravans, shipping companies and work as shop merchants. They can be found working as accountants for citys, organizations and guild halls. They are also employed to investigate fraud and forgeries. Tallfellows do not have their own communities and live in their cousins villages or in human cities.
Stovel were the first to arrive on the world. They keep themselves to the jungles of Korramuth and rarely ventured into human areas. Their name Stovel is a slang term given them by the other halflings roughly meaning covered feet. These halflings appear simply as smaller humans but are rarely mistaken as human children as the appearance of a adult is rough and aged. The average height is about 2 feet 10 inches to 3 feet 5 inches. Both males and females fall into the same range. These halflings are also thin, though can be muscular, but rarely break 40 pounds. Unlike other halfling, these wear shoes, and they are quite fond of boots. They have excellent memories and are sure footed. However, they have difficulty building up strength. Although they make excellent wizards, most prefer the art of alchemy and rune casting instead. Stovel halfling’s can be found in the southlands of Korramoth, few travel to human cities. Stovel halflings are nearly always at odds with the other halfling races and disapprove of their mischievous ways.
Originated on the inner planet of Frotlan these halflings fled here during an elemental war that left most to the communities destroyed. Frotlanians are not indigenous to this system and settled on the polar regions several thousands of years ago from parts unknown. It expected the home world was very much like Frotlan and they did not need much time to adapt. Those that resettled on Altris did so in the hottest and most desolate deserts on the world; the Korramuth plateau. Frotlanian halflings pretty much keep to themselves trading with local villages only when they are required to. They do not like cold weather, actually anything below 80f is considered cold to them. They can go days without food or water and walk days across the desert.
Halflings do not gain any benefits of age.
Halfings use the elven calendar to track their events, only not the same model for counting years.
