Burgona is the child of Nuvine and Talos. She is a half sister to Wai, Lacene and Unyis. She was born misshapen and grotesque, but unlike her sisters she was good natured. Her sisters physically and verbally abused her daily and they hatched a plan to see which one of them could kill her first. Wai attempted to poison her on several occasions but failed, as Burgona seemed to be immune to even the strongest of elixirs she could concoct. Lacene attempted to trick her several times into deadly situations however, Burgona did not trust her and avoided her traps. Unyis however simply attacked her and attempted to club her to death, Burgona fled the realm and into a desolated area of the Nine Hells knowing her sisters feared the devils there.

Her flight was for not when the devils found her and began tormenting her, leaving her for dead, then tracking her down to do it again. She spent most of her life hidden in a small cave dreading the next time the devil horde returns for some entertainment at her expense. While waiting for the inevitable, she heard two voices that sounded nearly as one. She peaked out of the cave to see two monks standing outside the cave staring and pointing in her direction. The two looked very similar to each other, only one was male and the other female. she sunk back into the cave.

“Are you alright?” the female monk asked. “I am fine” Burgona replied. “Then why to you hide in this cave?” the male monk asked. Burgona slid out of the cave to face them in all her hideousness, “this is why!”. The monks looked at each other puzzled then back at her, “we do not understand” the brother stated. “I see nothing unusual” the sister claimed. “I am not hideous and grotesque to you?”. The brother smiled “We are monks of Welyenton, we only see the truth of the soul, and we see nothing but kindness and pain.”

The monks stayed and talked for some time, they are brother and sister who accidently passed through some portal that transported them to this place, they were looking for a way back to the Concord Opposition. Brugona offered to show them the path if they were willing to allow her to join them, the monks happily agreed. The trio was about to set off when familiar voices caught her ears and she quickly retreated to her cave. The two monks looked puzzled again and followed her back to the cave, “you must leave, quickly before they see!” but it was to late.

The monks turned to see seven devils stepping around the boulders taunting Brugona to come out so they can play with her. The monks took up defensive positions in front of the cave, Brugona closed her eyes. Within moments the fight was over, and the devils were playing with the dead bodies of her new friends and taunting her with them. Darkness clouded her vision as a burst of rage exploded from her. When her vision returned, she was panting out of breath and still beating what was left of a devil’s head with his own leg. She sat with the bodies of the monks for a long time, her grief seemed to split her own essence as she inhabited the bodies of the monk siblings. The two monks sat up and moved as one and she settled into her new form. Facing the monks at each other she could see the face of each, one looking at the other while the other looked at the one. Vengeance swelled up in her and she faced the direction of the devil’s stronghold and began to walk.

It only took moments for the stronghold to be cleared and all the devils destroyed. She used the bodies of devils to build her own stronghold and throne. Vengeance consumes her as she roams the Nine Hells destroying devils and thinking of ways to pay visits to her sisters.

Clerics of Burgona all dress as monks wearing tan and brown trousers and tunics. A single cleric will bond with other before the end of their training. The two will always travel together and will rarely be out of each other’s sight. Most kingdoms have outlawed the religion though many shrines can be found throughout the lands. A few temples have been built on islands or high in the mountains and outside the normal jurisdiction of the kingdoms. Clerics normally appear during times of strife, disorder and war. They will edge people on and posing them to seek vengeance on those that have wronged them. The cleric will play both sides of a fight and on occasion the clerics will enact the vengeance for someone that is unable to enact it for themselves.

Burgona is always depicted as two monks, one male one female identically dressed. She is sometimes referred to as The Burgonas and as “them” and “they” and rarely referred to as an individual.
